on thursday we met some family (lisa, bree, tia, karsten, ben the dog and abriel) at the river rats water show on the mississippi (that’s hard to spell even with the song) river downtown.
lydia always loves being passed around.
she also thinks the oddest things are hilarious. check out this funny sign.
she always meets new friends.
loved this location……great backdrop of downtown minneapolis.
of course, no toddler can resist the fun of playing with a cell phone.
lisa read her stories.
here is a shot of the whole crew.
and me & karsten.
the 3 of us
and a shot of a dude with a camera that we want.
oh yeah, there were also lots of amazing water skiers.
incredible.
and some not so funny jokes told by a lame mc…..but it added to the over-the-top hokieness…which was a novelty and kinda cool.
in the end, lydia got to tip the performers.
ben
me and mini sweets
bree cracked her up.
and the boats did this weird/cool/loud/crazy "walk the boats" thing at the end.
a rad night of entertainment and always great to hang with family.
saturday was another long run and ice bath.
that night, we had a long anticipated dinner at 'kings wine bar'. this a new joint that serves chef prepared organic comfort foods in a hip yet comfortable environment. and the best part? it is a BLOCK away from our house!! this is now cool dinner spot #4 we can walk to.
walking home
after dinner, i met my running buddy john, dave, abriel and rayna at bunkers to check out priscilla ahn.
bunkers is a dive bar in the warehouse district that houses some fantastic local blues bands…..but they rarely have a performer like priscilla playing!!!
i could not believe it when i heard she was playing there. at first i thought she may have gotten a speeding ticket going through the twin cities and the judge sentenced her to play at bunkers? nonetheless, i was pumped. john graciously got there early and snagged us a table on the FRONT row. wow. and by front row i mean i was resting my foot on the stage.
as amazing as she sounds on cd, she was just as incredible live. here is sample for you.
after the show, she came out and took some pics.
since we were already out, we decided to hit club jaeger after.
this is apparently one of the new hipster hangouts, so us old married people had fun people watching. just as we were talking, a group of guys started break dancing in the middle of the main room. awesome.
on sunday, we headed over to mcguffey’s good-bye party for the sairs. sad to see our buddies arnie, kara, jonathan & lori head to atlanta.
the mcguffey’s always throw a great party.
good food (mmmm brats) & good people.
lydia tried to steal one of lori's toys
lara helped lydi-bug catch bugs.
the kids loved playing with ice.
it wasn’t long until madison (mad dog) broke out the pet lizard (lizards kill @ parties).
