we had dinner with dave and abriel at la chaya before the show. good stuff!
then it was time to hit the show.
paulo is from scotland and has been on my “must see” list for quite some time. finally. it was worth the wait. how does an early twenty-something from scotland have so much soul……kid was killing it. and, he had an unusual way of performing…….bent over and looking at the ground for half time.
odd, but it worked for him. place was sold out and then some (people standing along the side walls). great energy and a great night. here’s a little sample video of his work.
tuesday night was “national night out”. and by national, i mean “minnesota” as i have lived in a few states and never heard of it. this is the night that everyone in the city closes off their block and all of the neighbors rally together for a neighborhood cookout to get to know each other. fun.
lots of great food and it was nice chatting it up with the neighbors…..some of which we embarrassingly had not met yet.
lydia had a blast playing with the other kids and their toys
and eating cookies
we even had people from the kingfield neighborhood association stop by with custom ice cream from sebastian joes…..”nicollet pothole” (named for our VERY bumpy street). a-m-a-z-i-n-g ice cream. hopefully, they’ll make it a staple flavor.
nothing too exciting the balance of the week, but lydia did enjoy playing with her new hat.
and someone had a 19 month birthday
on saturday, we continued with our long runs. i started my post long run ice bath. mini-sweets loved playing with the ice.
we had dinner that evening at the black sheep downtown in the warehouse district. we had been here before and the pizza is fantastic.
on sunday, we hit the familiar favorite- kingfield farmer’s market. the roe family singers were providing the live jams and lydi-bug enjoyed their alt country sound.
lydia helped with yard work that afternoon.
then she helped lara put some new parts on her "new" 2nd hand trike
sunday evening was time for me to hit the sold out fleet foxes show at first avenue.
this band is all the rage amongst the hipster scene. despite being blazing hot inside 1st avenue, the foxes stayed true to their look, and rocked the long sleeve flannels and toboggans (that’s a ski hat in nc).
these guys do a lot of 3-4 part harmonies, a la beach boys, and sound great live. i actually enjoyed the show more than i thought i would. here is little taste for you.
good week.
